Earlier, we reported that Apple was releasing a new iPhone this summer. Now we’re hearing that not only is it coming out, but it’s also going to be a whole lot cheaper…and most likely won’t be dropping while the leaves are still green.

In an April phone interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook made a rare comment divulging what we can expect from his company later this year, “I’m just saying we’ve got some really great stuff coming in the fall and all across 2013.”

Based on that comment and the rest of the highly tight-lipped conversation, Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster, one of the premier Apple analysts, predicts that a cheaper iPhone is in fact in the works.

But could we actually have the first look at the fun-colored iPhones to be? We just might.

According to Qz.com:

“Two different channels for leaks direct from the production lines of Foxconn, where iPhones are made, have released, via social media, remarkably similar images of colored backs for what are supposedly the rumored, forthcoming “cheap” iPhone.”

There is no verification that the colored, lower-priced iPhones are actually coming. But one thing we can assure you is that with Apple, there are always a whole lot of rumors before the real thing comes to light, and we would assume the design would be a bit more sleek than this.
