Jay-Z said he was making up “new rules” and it seems to be working.

Although Billboard has decided that one million pre-bought albums will not count toward the album sales of Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, the RIAA has decided to re-evaluate how they certify an album’s sales.

Upon further review, the RIAA has decided to change the rules for digital album sales, which will now directly affect the album sales of Jay-Z’s new album in a positive manner.

    The RIAA stated

“We think it’s time for the RIAA – and Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman – to align our digital song and album certification requirements. That’s why today we are officially updating this rule in our G&P Program requirements. Going forward, sales of albums in digital format will become eligible on the release date, while sales of albums in physical format will still become eligible for certification 30 days after the release date.”

With the RIAA’s “new rules,” Magna Carta Holy Grail will now go platinum.

Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released to one million Samsung Galaxy users on Thursday, July 4.
