Jennifer Lopez looks couture chic and Liz Taylor-reminiscent on the cover of W Magazine’s 2013 August Issue.

Poised in a peacock-inspired Gucci dress, Cartier diamond earrings, and emerald colored Bulgari ring, J.Lo rocks the regal look as one of the reigning hottest female singers in the game.

At the age of 43, she’s been through a lot and remembers everything. Within the issue, the diva opens up about her childhood, relationship with her mother, dreams of making it, and of course being “Jenny From The Block.”

After arriving to the interview in the Bronx, near her childhood home, she said:

The last time I was in there was when my mom and dad called us home to tell us that they were separating after 33 years of marriage. I think that’s why I was nervous about coming here today. It’s like seeing someone from the past—you’re afraid to run into them because you never know if it’s going to be ‘wow’ or very difficult. This is a combination of both.

The ambition and drive to make it was always there…

I can remember dancing and singing in front of the mirror in my bedroom, I’ve always had dreams—the dreams have just gotten bigger. After two weeks off, I start saying, ‘Let’s get back to work.’ And I’ve always been that way.

She commented on her relationship with her mother…

My mom and I butted heads. I didn’t want to go to college—I wanted to try dance full-time. I was homeless. But I told her ‘This is what I have to do.’

Parenting advice from the mother of Max and Emme…

I think a lot about teaching my kids to work hard. I’ve learned something about kids—they don’t do what you say; they do what you do. I watched my parents.

You’ll have to wait until July 16th to get your hands on this issue!
