Just a few weeks ago, Somewhereinamerica, Edward Snowden was still lurkin’ and the information he revealed about the government’s phone taps had the masses on alert when it came to their personal information

Maybe it was the timing, but just weeks later, Jay Z announced that he would be dropping a new album Samsung users would get for free with the download of an app…Except that app would pretty much take your social finger print and archive it.

Users were wary of the app, because it asked for permission to users’ storage, system tools, location, network communities, phone calls and more.

Naturally, Jay was called a sell out for coupling with a big name company to seemingly exploit the information of his fans, but the suits sitting at the head of the table at Samsung have spoken up about the allegations.

In a statement, Samsung spoke out:

“We are aware of the complaint filed with the FTC and believe it is baseless. Samsung takes customer privacy and the protection of personal information very seriously. Any information obtained through the application download process was purely for customer verification purposes, app functionality purposes and for marketing communications, but only if the customer requests to receive those marketing communications. Our permissions are in line with other apps’ standard permissions. Samsung is in no way inappropriately using or selling any information obtained from users through the download process.”

Samsung claimed that the scope of the app’s use of any information gathered has been overblown.

Has it, or are we finally just reading The Blueprint?
