Comedian, Television Host, and syndicated Radio Personality are just a short list of Rickey Smiley’s entertainment credentials. The 20-plus year comedic vet has a distinct talent of turning what is to us an average observation into golden comedy skits.

Smiley is most known for treating his audience to a host of skits featuring his original characters including “Mrs. Bernice Jenkins,” “Lil’ Darryl,” and “Beauford the Repo Man.”

The graduate of Alabama State University and proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity – a declaration he never fails to leave out during his comedy routines – began his career performing on a host of well-known television stages including Showtime at the Apollo and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam.

Smiley is also a former host of BET’s ComicView and is the only comedian to hold a two-season hosting record for the beloved stand-up comedy show. You may have also caught his acting bits in films like Friday After Next and All About The Benjamin’s.

However one of Smiley’s most noted accolades happened in 2007, when he became the host of his self-titled radio show, which is ranked highly as one of the most popular, nationally-syndicated radio programs. On the hilarious morning show, Smiley and his interesting mix of co-hosts prank call unsuspecting listeners as Smiley steps into the role using one his many character voices. Following the radio show came another self-titled piece in the form of a comedic sitcom for TV ONE.

Though Smiley is one of the few “clean” comedians that exist in today’s circuit, he continues to hold his own as a standout figure amongst his comedic peers. Make sure to check out the Season Two premiere of The Rickey Smiley Show tonight at 9/8c on TV One.
