While the world was distracted by the birth of the royal baby, Tina Turner was off defying all the laws of traditional dating and matrimony.
After 27 years of dating, Tina proved there is life after Ike, when she wed longtime boyfriend Erwin Bach in Switzerland. The pair married at their home (yes y’all, Tina is living it up in Switzerland) on the banks of Lake Zurich. The guest list included megastars like Oprah Winfrey, and the women in attendance were reportedly asked to wear white, while the men donned black tie…but Tina was going for none of that white bride business!
The songstress donned a stunning black silk tulle and lime-green taffeta gown with Swarovski crystal embellishments to say her I-Do’s. According to an article in Hello!, Tina first spotted the Giorgio Armani frock at a runway show in Beijing and knew immediately she wanted to get it and save it for a special occasion.
“I thought, ‘I gotta have that, even if I never wear it. Then I thought, ‘I know, that will be my wedding dress.'”
Good for Tina! She is 73, ravishing and proving that a happily ever after is always possible! As for the new matrimony, she talks about the levels of happiness she has experienced since the wedding, saying:
“It’s that happiness that people talk about, when you wish for nothing, when you can finally take a deep breath and say, ‘Everything is good; It’s a wonderful place to be.”
