Tragedy struck a popular Southern California boardwalk in LA yesterday as a car swerved and hit tons of people.

Unfortunately, one person was killed, and 11 people were injured in the incident after the car sped off the road and into the sidewalk, as if to hit the pedestrians.

The Associate Press reports:

“There was people kind of stumbling around, blood dripping down their legs looking confused not knowing what had happened, people screaming,” said 35-year-old Louisa Hodge, who was out enjoying the day on the Venice Beach boardwalk with a friend visiting from San Diego. “It was blocks and blocks of people just strewn across the sidewalk.”

There is one victim in critical condition, and two more in serious condition after the incident. The remaining 8 have minor injuries.

Injuries included broken bones, head trauma and soft tissue damage and more than 100 emergency responders were on scene and crews had set up a triage area to treat those injured.

The driver fled the scene, but a man turned himself in to be involved in the incident about an hour after it occurred as police were searching the scene.

According to the Chicago Tribune:

Police do not know the driver’s motive or if he had been drinking, Neiman said, adding that the suspect will face homicide charges in addition to felony hit-and-run charges.

We pray for the victims of this horrible event. Watch more on the incident in the video above.
