    Andy Warhol

On August 6th,1929, a mastermind was born.

Andy Warhol, born Andrew Warhola, started his career in the magazine industry as an ad illustrator. It wasn’t until years later he became the “it man” during the 1960s for his Pop Art movement.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Warhol lived an average life. His mother was an embroiderer and his father was a construction worker. Little did he know, in a few years he’d be introduced to his passion. When he was 8-years-old and bedridden from a fatal disease of the nervous system, Andy had his very first drawing lesson. A year later, he became interested in photography and would learn how to take and develop pictures with a professional camera. Naturally, both became his favorite childhood pastimes, which he began to perfect thanks to free classes at his elementary school.

The rest is literal history. After graduating high school, Warhol attended Carnegie Mellon University to study pictorial design, before landing a job with Glamour magazine. A few years later, he started to work on his infamous Pop Art images that emerged on the scene during the 1950s.

With more and more people becoming curious about this new art form, Andy instantly became a household name. Not to mention, he always looked so cool while never wearing anything extravagant or flashy. His artwork always made up for it. We remember Warhol for his risk-taking contribution to art and for expanding the minds of all artists to try new things – whether it’s distorted pictures of canned goods or celebrity faces.
