This story just keeps getting sadder by the day.

News has surfaced that Nathan Louis Campbell, the driver that killed an Italian honeymooner on Saturday, has a long history of drug/alcohol abuse and getting into trouble with the law.

Police records show that Campbell has been arrested a number of times in both Florida and Denver. One of the arrests was for reckless driving in Panama City Beach in April 2008. And later that year, he was arrested for disturbing the peace and trespassing in Denver.

Moreover, Campbell once pleaded guilty to robbing a Virgin megastore and spent five years in prison.

Christian Casadei, the husband of deceased newlywed Alice Gruppioni, is completely heartbroken by this tragic event that took his wife only two weeks after their wedding.

“We were walking, we were happy, we were on our honeymoon and everything, and suddenly everything changed,’ Casadei said. ‘I still can’t believe it, and I don’t even remember exactly what happened. It’s all very confusing.”

In total, Campbell injured 11 people on Saturday evening. One victim is still in critical condition and two others are seriously hurt, including a four-year-old.

The LAPD is shocked by what took place.

LAPD Cmdr. Andy Smith declared, “There no indication that he knew anybody that he hit. It looks like this guy wanted to run over a bunch of people. One guy bent on doing evil.”

Campbell is expected in court today.
