Take a close look at that picture. Yep, that’s a rodeo clown….with President Barack Obama’s face.

And though it’s unclear why the fake Obama is at the Missouri State Fair rodeo egging on the crowd, it’s safe to make an assumption that it wasn’t because the audience just loves him to death.

Well, maybe. Missouri resident Perry Beam gives his account of a totally “wtf” moment at the fair, which took place Saturday night.

“Just prior to the start of the bull riding event, one of the clowns came out dressed in this,” the posts says, referring to the photo. “The announcer wanted to know if anyone would like to see Obama run down by a bull. The crowd went wild. He asked it again and again, louder each time, whipping the audience into a lather. One of the clowns ran up and started bobbling the lips on the mask and the people went crazy.”

The bull then charged the clown and forced him to run away. And of course, this was all “to the delight of the onlookers hooting and hollering from the stands.”

Beam continued:

“We then left quickly and quietly. Lily’s student is an inquisitive boy and asks a lot of questions about what he sees, and though he had never been to a rodeo he asked nothing about it, nor anything about America this time,” the blogger wrote. “We rode the sixty miles home in silence. In a way I’m glad. I had no answers for him.”

We’ve got one. What you just witnessed, Lily’s little boy, was called pure and utter racism.

Which of course, the participants in this tasteless stunt realized. Or maybe they knew it all along.

In an email early Sunday night, Missouri State Fair spokeswoman Kari Mergen told KMOX News “the performance by one of the rodeo clowns at Saturday’s event was inappropriate and disrespectful, and does not reflect the opinions or standards of the Missouri State Fair. We strive to be a family friendly event and regret that Saturday’s rodeo badly missed that mark.”

The Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association also released a statement Sunday:

The MRCA Board of Directors and over 600 members do not condone nor approve of this sort of activity.  The MRCA Board of Directors is dealing with the situation firmly and quickly as this type of behavior will not be tolerated. The Sport of Rodeo is not meant to be a political platform.  We are taking measures by training and educating our contract acts to prevent anything like this from ever happening again. All Members of the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association are very proud of our Country and our President.  Once again our apologies to the Missouri State Fair and the fans who were in attendance and we hope to see you at another rodeo soon.
And, of course, the clown, identified as Tuffy Gessling, sent his apologies via Facebook.

All of which we’re really not buying. They know exactly what games they were playing.
