VIBE Magazine went all out, releasing not one, but three covers to celebrate its covenant 20th Anniversary issue. To hold it down for the hip-hop side of things, the mag decided to feature a old school-new school mash up of Nas and J. Cole.

For the cover, the two are spotted posed up side by side, building what could be hip-hop’s next “bromance.” J. Cole is dapper in a pinstriped blazer and denim, as Nas rocks a more casual look of a leather jacket while his Jesus piece dangles ever so lightly from his neck.

In the corresponding photo shoot, the master pens let go of their rap personas and get ultra sexy, donning classic duds of bucket hats, relaxed ’90s workout gear, sheepskin lapel bomber jackets and gold chains to top it off.

Though “Work Out” rapper Cole labels Mr. Jones as one of his idols, the two have yet to collab on a record together. Take a peek at what Nas had to say about that during his sit down with the iconic mag:

“I told you before I need some tracks—your shit’s tight,” Nas insists to Cole.

“We need to do more shit [together] ‘cause it just makes you sharper as an MC.”

It Was Written, now let’s see what these two work out in terms of a collab! Steal a glimpse at more snaps from the leaders of the new – and old – school here, and the BTS video below.

Guess Cole didn’t let Nas down.
