Is this guy serious?

On the heels of the Stop-and-Frisk ruling that deemed it unconstitutional, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is making yet another attempt to perpetuate the pervasive racial profiling in NYC.

On Friday during an appearance on The John Gambling Show, the mayor said the best way to improve public housing safety was to fingerprint the tenants.

And no, we’re totally not kidding.

“What we really should have is fingerprinting to get in,” Bloomberg said.

Naturally, his proposal was met with opposition. Within an hour, NYC mayoral hopeful Bill Thompson spoke out about the ridiculous plan.

“Just like stop-and-frisk, this is another direct act of treating minorities like criminals,” Thompson, a former city controller, said in a statement. “Mayor Bloomberg wants to make New Yorkers feel like prisoners in their own homes.”

Even candidate Bill De Blasio called Bloomberg’s fingerprinting idea “outrageous.” He also demanded an apology from Bloomberg to NYCHA residents.

“The mayor’s comments that New Yorkers who enter public housing should be fingerprinted is outrageous and insulting, and shows just how out of touch this administration has become,” he said in a statement. “Mayor Bloomberg needs to apologize for these remarks.”

But Bloomberg didn’t stop at his racist suggestion. Adding insult to injury, he defended the Stop-and-Frisk policy and slammed Manhattan Federal Judge Shira Scheindlin for her ruling earlier this week that Stop-and-Frisk is unconstitutional.

“Your safety and the safety of your kids is now in the hands of some woman who does not have the expertise to do it.”

Somebody tell this man to have several seats. This is 2013 and minorities should not need “papers” to move freely.
