A day care worker named Jenna Ferrel has been fired after she was caught posting insulting pictures and comments about the children she was employed to care for on Instagram.
The Virginia Heavenly Haven Child Care employee posted a number of pictures mocking the son of a woman named Melissa Jordan. Jordan’s son has a speech impediment and Ferrel was using Instagram to ridicule him.
With the username, @mz_oneofakind, Ferrel also made fun of another kid’s teeth by using a picture of a cartoon character.
Quickly after the news broke, the day care center issued a statement about the incident:
“A Heavenly Haven’s position on the actions of the employees involved zero tolerance, and the employees have been terminated. A Heavenly Haven is a Christian-based Childcare Development Center that has served the Peninsula for over 15 years. We have an excellent record and long term relationship with many families we have served on the Peninsula. This incident, caused by an employee, does not reflect who we are as a childcare provider nor will it deter us from providing a safe and nurturing environment for our children.”
The owner of the center has since told the media that the employee has been fired. Moreover, Ferrel’s Instagram account has been deleted.
