The 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech was, ideally, supposed to be met with the actualization of that dream.

But MLK couldn’t imagine that the laws and social constructs that inspired his quest for equality could turn into another evil – the mass incarceration of black males.

Both the struggle for equality and the flawed criminal justice system has torn families apart, devastated communities, and ensured that while one freedom was given, another was taken.
