The man who shot at an 18-year-old babysitter, killing the 13-month-old she was caring for, was arrested in connection with her death.
Keelan Armstrong, 24, has been charged with first-degree murder for shooting and killing Londyn Samuels and attempted first-degree murder for wounding the child’s babysitter.
The baby was being carried by the teenager on the way home from the park when someone opened fire on them. A bullet entered the babysitter’s back, went through her and struck the baby in the chest.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu declared that “enough is enough” after the shooting and appealed to help find the baby’s killer.
“This community has got to stand up and with force and power, speak with one voice and say this is unacceptable,” a somber Landrieu said at an afternoon news conference. He announced plans for an evening vigil at an intersection near where Londyn Samuels was killed.
We’re thankful that the response was speedy…and obviously effective. Justice will be served for little Londyn. May she rest in peace.
