There’s one universal truth when it comes to the fashion realm: when Anna Wintour says you’re in, you’re in.
The Vogue editor-in-chief has been making her regular sunglass and tweed-clad rounds at the creme de la creme of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week shows this week. And while she’s normally pretty stone-faced while sitting in her front row seat, Anna found a seat mate that made her open up a bit…Russell Westbrook.
The 24-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder point guard is one of the few ballers aside from LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire who have graced the front row of fashion shows. But none have gotten the coveted seat next to Wintour, and in the rare occasion that she does take off her sunglasses, it’s unusual to see her crack a smile…but not with Westbrook by her side.
In case you were wondering, the baller does all his own stunts. When it comes to fashion, Westbrook dresses himself and does not have a stylist on the payroll.
The Wall Street Journal documented his bewilderment after being asked if he had a stylist:
“Oh no, I don’t,” he replied, with a hint of outrage that someone would even ask that. “I’m very picky when it comes to clothing and choosing my outfits. I buy a lot of clothes. I shop all the time.”
