Police in Harvey, Louisiana have arrested Pierre Camese after his 38-year-old neighbor was found dead in the apartment next to him.
But it appears that Camese never even stepped foot in Rene O’Quin’s apartment. Turns out a gun that Camese was sleeping with discharged and went through the apartment’s shared wall, striking and killing O’Quin while he slept.
According to the Daily Mail:
Investigators found that Camese was involved in a domestic abuse incident with an unidentified woman over the weekend and 911 had been called to the building.
When questioned, Camese revealed that he had taken a 12-guage shotgun to bed with him out of fear that the family of the woman with whom he had the dispute would come to harm him.
He’d placed the borrowed firearm on his bed, pointed toward the wall and claims it accidentally discharged when he pulled the bedcovers over himself.
He told investigators he wasn’t aware that his neighbor had been shot and initially detectives believed O’Quin’s wounds were self-inflicted.
The 23-year-old has been booked on negligent homicide.
