Frank & Oak has seen major success since its launch in February 2012, primarily due to its mission to dress “trendy” 20-30 something men in premium clothing that’s equally cost efficient. Despite sticking true to their Montreal and e-commerce based roots, luckily for us, the menswear brand decided to branch out to New York to display their first presentation at Fashion Week.

The line outside of Highline Stages located in the city’s Meatpacking District brimmed with photographers, fashion journalists and style aficionados alike, aiming to get their eyes on what Frank & Oak had to offer. And after a short wait, guests began filing in as we were greeted by the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and a blare of electronic tunes spun by the DJ.

During the 20 minute presentation, 16 male models exhibited head-to-toe looks that demonstrated Frank & Oak’s “dress well, live well” mission with epic efficiency, whilst standing around a backdrop of hologram lightening bolts. Key pieces include tailored double-breasted blazers in basic hues of black and light gray.

Likewise, the collection consisted of rustic colored trousers, chinos and corduroys that perfectly reflected the colors caught in the changing leaves of fall. Paying attention to detail, we noticed that all the pants were abbreviated by being cuffed perfectly at the ankle. Another close detail we eyed was the use of ties as belts, allowing the neckpiece to hang effortlessly at the hip.

Trends spotted: Plaids – spied in various shades, quilted jackets, bomber vests, ties worn as belts, and printed wool sweaters.

My rating: Overall I loved the solid presentation displayed by the brand that is Frank & Oak. As the models shifted positions during the workshop, it reminded us that the collection consists of exceptionally structured basics that could easily transition straight to the streets, caught on any stylish guy roaming the city sidewalks. Likewise, I loved how they topped off each look by donning the male models in a plethora of oxfords in assorted shades of chocolate and chestnut browns.

My favorite look: The elongated ash colored blazer worn with mustard colored chinos, a printed burgundy hued sweater, paired with a khaki weekender tote and leather gloves.
