A story of transgender girl who attended Marina High School was elected homecoming Queen this weekend made us smile, and certainly made history.

While the moment was supposed to turn into the “best night of my life” for Cassidy Lynn Campbell, it turned into a nightmare as she was teased and bullied right after her win.

She told the LA Times of her possiblity to win earlier this month:

‘If I win it would mean that the school recognizes me as the gender I always felt I was,’ she told the L.A. Times earlier this month. ‘But with all the attention, I realized it’s bigger than me. I’m doing this for the kids who can’t be themselves.’

The video of her win shows her bursting into tears once she is announced as Queen, but a second video went viral of Cassidy herself speaking into her webcam.

The video shows her crying hysterically and explaining how she was bullied just after her big win. But she’s is still wearing her Homecoming Queen crown!

We hope that Cassidy can focus on her win and stay strong! Check out the emotional video above.
