A machine gun was found in a ceiling panel inside of JFK airport in NYC this week, by a worker.

The employee was running a cable through the ceiling when they came across the weapon which was in the ceiling of a closet of a management office.

According to Fox News, the gun was found in Terminal 1 of the airport, and an investigation is currently in process.

The site reports:

The gun, which is capable of discharging 32-round magazines in less than two seconds, was in a plastic case and officials are determining if the gun is operable, the report said. The gun, which was located inside Terminal One, which handles international flights, could have been there for years.

A source told the paper that investigators are trying to determine if an official at the airport owns the gun. One official told WABC that investigators are “not even slightly” concerned about a plot on the airport.

Mmm…okay…

We’re thankful that the weapon was found before it did any damage and we hope that everyone going through airports stays safe.
