As it now enters it’s fifth day, the government shut down is effecting thousands across the country but there could be some gleam of hope for some government workers.

According to reports, it may be likely that 800,000 workers that are currently without pay will receive back pay.

Yahoo! News reports:

The GOP House is scheduled Saturday to vote on legislation backed by the White House and congressional Democrats that would make sure the 800,000 sidelined government employees would get their pay when the shutdown ends. The Senate is expected to clear it later, even as early as Saturday, for President Barack Obama’s signature.

Meanwhile it seems there is no agreement within Congress in near sight.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP’s weekly address:

“I was disappointed when certain parts of the federal government were forced to shut down because Senate Democrats refused to make any changes whatsoever to the deeply flawed health care law known as Obamacare. Republicans are eager to end the shutdown and move ahead with the fiscal and economic reforms that our country so urgently needs.”

In his weekly address POTUS continues with a firm stance:

“Take that vote.  Stop this farce.  End this shutdown now.

He added:

The American people don’t get to demand ransom in exchange for doing their job. Neither does Congress. They don’t get to hold our democracy or our economy hostage over a settled law. They don’t get to kick a child out of Head Start if I don’t agree to take her parents’ health insurance away. That’s not how our democracy is supposed to work.

Lord Jeezus! We hope this ordeal can come to a close soon.
