Another case of when sneakers turn deadly

Two men were shot outside of a Wilmington, Delaware store this weekend while they were camping out for the release of a new Nike Air Jordan sneaker, which sell for about $185 a pair. About a dozen people were present and despite the incident, the crowd remained waiting for the store to open.

According to CBS Philadelphia:

The shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. outside the Sneaker Villa store located on the 600 block of North Market Street after an argument reportedly began.

The victims were taken to Wilmington Hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital. One of the victims is in critical condition. Neither victim has been identified.

Representatives from the Sneaker Villa, where the shooting occurred, released the following statement:

“Our customers are our first priority. At VILLA, we take great pride in treating our customers like family and we will continue to take the proper steps to ensure that our customers are safe. We have strong values and are committed to working with our community to create an environment where everyone can achieve their dreams and prosper.”

No arrests have been made in the shooting. Police are investigating their leads.
