UPDATE: Friday October 11, 2013 — 9:00 AM EST

Despite a prison report that suggested kidnapper Ariel Castro may have died of auto-erotic asphyxiation, the coroner who classified his death is saying there were no signs he had been choking himself for sexual pleasure.

Franklin County coroner Jan Gorniak said that there isn’t enough evidence to support that claim, labeling his death a “hanging suicide.” To explain why the kidnapper was found with his pants around his ankles, Gorniak suggested that his trousers and underwear may have simply fallen down while he was hanging.

Gorniak said she had not been consulted by anyone involved in the report over the possible cause of death.

So this happened.

A new Ohio report cites that Ariel Castro possibly died of auto-erotic asphyxiation, not suicide.

That same report cites that rounds were not properly completed the night the serial kidnapper died in his cell.

The new review indicates that guards did not properly complete rounds that night. It also says the guards falsified post log books.

Two guards, Caleb Ackley, 26, and Ryan Murphy, 27, are already on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.

Ackley and Murphy were on duty when Castro killed himself at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, 10TV reported in September.

The review also indicates that the MedCare Ambulance response to the emergency call was “significantly delayed.”

More details to come.
