Libya’s Prime Minister, Ali Zidan, was kidnapped by armed militants from his hotel overnight. Several hours later, the captors released him under threat from forces loyal to the government. Details of the abduction remain unclear, but the kidnappers (members of semiofficial brigades that fought in the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi) are said to have snatched him in retaliation for the seizure of an al-Qaeda suspect by special forces. In Nebraska, a 16-year-old girl will be forced to have her baby after the Nebraska Supreme Court upheld a ruling that she was not “sufficiently mature” to have an abortion. Instead, the teen will have her baby in foster care, where she feels her foster parents may take their anger out on the child. In that case, she may be forced to give the baby up for adoption. A 2-year-old in Florida shot himself in the legs with a .45 caliber handgun that belonged to his mother. Michael Garcia Jr. suffered a single gunshot wound to both of his legs, but his injuries were not life-threatening. No charges have been filed. [HuffPost]
