It’s been about a year since the shooting at Sandy Hook, killing dozens of students and faculty members, occurred, but new evidence is still emerging.

One of the students who was in the classroom that Adam Lanza, the shooter, bursted into, is reported to have saved the lives of six of the students by sacrificing his own.

According to first reports by The Hartford Courant, Jesse Lewis, the 6-year-old student, told his classmates to run when the gunman entered the classroom that they were in.

Huffington Post reports:

“He yelled, ‘Run!’ Adam reloaded and shot him in the head,” said Scarlett Lewis, who learned details of the events inside the classroom from investigators who gathered accounts from children who survived.

“When I heard he used his last few seconds on earth to try to save his friends, I was not surprised,” she said. “I am so incredibly proud of him.”

It turns out that a report from the full investigation is going to be released very soon, so hopefully more details from the shooting will emerge.

We’re so proud of Jesse Lewis and his courage, and we pray for the families of the victims.
