Well. This is fitting.

During President Obama’s speech to address glitches in the rollout of the Affordable Care Act (or Obamacare), a young pregnant woman with Type 1 diabetes nearly fainted while standing behind him.

After noticing the woman swaying, the president turned to support her.

“I got you, you’re OK,” he said.

Then, in a playful manner, he quipped:

“This happens when I talk too long.”

Obama was, in fact, nearing the end of his speech, telling the story of a self-employed Pennsylvania man named John who had written the president about the Affordable Care Act and how much it “stank” during the first week.

During the speech, the president publicly acknowledged that the new health care website “hasn’t worked as smoothly as it was supposed to work,” but he assured Americans that the product is working and vowed to fix the website glitches.

“The Affordable Care Act is not just a website,” he said. “It’s much more…That product is working. It’s really good. And it turns out there’s a massive demand for it,” he said. “Nobody’s madder than me that the website’s not working like it should, which means it’s going to get fixed.”

As for the woman (who has now been identified as San Diego resident Karmel Allison) she was escorted off the stage by a White House official. An update on her condition has not yet been released. However, we have learned that Allison was standing on stage with the president because her diabetes diagnosis at 9-years-old prevented her from finding a new plan that would cover her pre-existing condition.

And no, so far it does not look like the fainting was staged. We hope she’s feeling better.
