Are we happy about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s engagement, or nah?
Look: I know Kim Kardashian is easy to pick on. She has more money than all of us combined and the only thing we know about her is that she has a sex tape and a reality show about her life … and she’s freaking winning. That’s enough to make anyone perturbed.
Many of us have private sex tapes, we lead pretty interesting lives, and when Aunt Sweet Thang gets tipsy, it’s better than Love and Basketball. But no one is trying to give us a million dollars to follow us around with camera. So after a bad day at the office, we tweet stuff like:
“Kim posts a picture of her booty on Instagram and gets a ring days later.”
Others pick on KimYe’s baby name, Kanye’s fashion sense, or Kim’s crying face.
So I get it, people find it easy to hate on Kim. But can we be happy for her now that she’s engaged for the third time and is officially the Lord Of The Rings? After all, they say third time’s the charm.
Kimmy’s second try at marriage ended worse than Soul Plane. She filed for divorce after 72 days and then spent the next year in a nasty divorce battle with Kris Humphries. This was a major embarrassment. You can hate someone all you want, but I wouldn’t wish what Kim went through with Kris on anyone.
So yes, it’s time to give Kim a break. The whole Kardashian clan is going through hell right now. Kris and Bruce are separated. Khloe and Lamar have issues. Kourtney had to go through a paternity test and Kendall and Kylie got caught in the club being ratchet.
Even if you’re not going to give Kim a break, at least let the marriage play out. KimYe might be the most epic love story of our time. Or it might be a complete failure that will spark some amazing music.
The heart works in mysterious ways. If we’re not going to be happy for Kim, let’s at least be happy for Kanye West!
