Shout to everybody I saw last night at the Yo Gotti listening session. One of the hardest tracks, Cold War, on his major label debut is one of the hottest songs of the week. It features J Cole and a message that every young person coming up in the struggle should hear.

Top Dawg Entertainment or TDE to you laymen, continue their domination in music. Next up appears to Ab-Soul. After a slew of recent songs that have sprinkled the blogs, his latest track Dub Sac is a winner. Its an ode to daily doings of TDE’s resident hippie. Ab has always been the one who is left of the field, the one who is a sandwich short of a happy meal, to say the least. Take one listen to Dub Sac and you’ll understand why. That said this is music junky’s guilty pleasure.

One of my good friends Kate Wolfson always loves to impress me with the fact that she went school with Mike Shinoda, the rapper/frontman of Fort Minor. I always yawn in amusement but Shinoda is nothing less than impressive. As a producer and band man of Linkin Park, he is on another level. Peep this new record I’ll Be Gone which features Pusha T. It’s a mash up of dub step and hip hop. Though not on the Skrillex level, ‘Gone’ is must hear music.

The Alchemist has long been one of my favorite producers. Action Bronson is one of my favorite MC’s from NYC’s newest school of hip hop super heroes. Needless to say to see (hear) the 2 of them together on this promo inspired by Dr. Romanelli’s Coca Cola clothing collection is dope. It actually sound like Alchemist and MF Doom linked up. Bronson’s verse is sandwiched in the middle of the track like a twinkie filling. This is a collectors item for true fans of hot beats, samples and rhymes.

One of the dopest bands coming from the frigid lands of Canada is Chromeo. I’ve never been to Montreal but the energy in that city must be a fusion of all things funky and classic. Their new track Sexy Socialite continues on their 80’s theme. Trust me, if you were born in the early 80’s, one listen and you will feel like Back to The Future. Until We Read Again.
