It’s tattoo time for Rihanna once again.

Just a few weeks ago while on a trip to New Zealand during her Diamonds World Tour, Rihanna decided to dive head first into the country’s culture by getting a traditional Maori “Moko” tattoo. The word traditional there is used with emphasis. The way to get a Moko tattoo? The pigment is chiseled directly into the skin.

Except, it seems like Rihanna may be over the tattoo already, as she recently covered it up with another tat while out in the Dominican Republic. Bang Bang McCurdy and Cally-Jo of Bang Bang NYC tattoos flew to RiRi on Sunday to begin the 11-hour session of the hand tattoo made to look like henna art.

Bang Bang spoke exclusively with E! to explain the tattoo:

“The inspiration was henna art, we wanted something really decorative, feminine and sexy. We thought that was the closest in style where we could shift and make it look decorative.

She had something preexisting on her hand. So it was a little bit of a cover up, but also making it look good, wanted to make sure it flowed. We needed to work with what she already had,” and added, that it was “difficult, because the stuff she already had was a pattern on skin. We were trying to fit the body with what she already had. Mend the two styles with a new style.”

This tat has to be one of the most dramatic ones we have seen on Rihanna to date! Head over to E! to get more pics of Rihanna’s tattoo.
