Some children may get a little more than just candy corn and chocolate tomorrow.

A Fargo, North Dakota woman has decided to take over Halloween by giving out some interesting letters to children she believes are overweight, withholding any sweet treats. Defending her actions, Cheryl called the local radio station, WRIG, and claims that she’s doing the kids a favor.

“I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight… I think it’s just really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just ‘cause all the other kids are doing it,” the woman said.

Cheryl also pointed out that she’s looking at this from the “It takes a village to raise a child” vantage point.

“I’m contributing to their health problems and really, their kids are everybody’s kids. It’s a whole village,” says the letter’s author in the interview.

While it’s admirable that the woman wants to raise awareness for children, it’s problematic when you’re telling very vulnerable and impressionable kids that they’re fat: especially when they’re still growing up.

Take a look at the letter below. Is it offensive or commendable?
