One must encompass the selling power of a mastermind to be able to sell a fragrance named after a precious metal; guess that’s why Jay Z decided to call his first fragrance “Gold.”

As if Jigga didn’t already have enough to juggle in his career, the rapper is crossing over into the new celebrity chartered and wildly profitable lands also known as the world of celebrity fragrances.

After his much publicized Holiday 2013 collection with Barneys rolls out, Jay no hyphen Z  is expanding his line of products even further with the release of the new fragrance. The scent, entitled, “Gold,” is part of his ongoing fashion collaboration with Barneys and will be released there on November 20th, followed by a rollout on November 29 to 2,000 other stores nationwide led by Macy’s, Sephora, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Belk, Bon-Ton and Ulta.

According to reports from WWD, the fragrance is expecting a colossal backing:

“We are going to make a big noise. For the 30 days before Christmas, it will be impossible not to know he has a fragrance,” Donald J. Loftus, president of Parlux Ltd. (Jay’s fragrance licensee) and executive vice president of Perfumania Inc, told WWD.

“Jay stressed that he didn’t want to do what had been done before,” continued Donald. That included sticking to the traditional August-to-October launch window.

The 43-year-old hip-hop star also rejected 3,200 possible names for his signature scent. Finally he picked up the bottle and declared “This is the sh*t; it’s gold,” Donald revealed.

Well, that’s not cliche at all.

Prices range from $39 – $70 for the three different sized bottles. There are also plans for a deodorant and shower gel to accompany the original fragrance.
