It’s official.

New York City’s new favorite family is now the First Family of the Big Apple. Last night, Bill de Blasio won the NYC mayoral race by a landslide, becoming the first Democrat in two decades to serve as the mayor of the city.

With his liberal agenda, opposition to stop-and-frisk and pledge to raise taxes to pay for universal pre-kindergarten, de Blasio led in the polls against GOP mayoral candidate Joe Lhota. He addressed the city shortly after 10 p.m., ending the Bloomberg-era.

“The people have chosen a progressive path and tonight we set forth on it, together, as one New York,” he said.

“The challenges we face have been decades in the making,” he said.

And of course, he celebrated by dancing with wife Chirlane McCray, and their children, Dante and Chiara de Blasio, proving that they are the coolest family of the greatest city in the world.

Not too far away, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was re-elected in a landslide 60-39 percent over Democrat challenger Sen. Barbara Buono.

“I’m the luckiest guy in the world,” Christie said, flanked by his family, during his acceptance speech in Asbury Park, N.J.

Christie was re-elected with widespread support from men, women, independents and even three in 10 Democrats, according to CBS News exit polls.

And in Virginia, the surprise of a lifetime came when the Tea Party, a usual win for the swing state, took a major loss.

Democrat Terry McAuliffe was declared the winner of the Virginia governor’s race by Fox News and NBC News.

McAuliffe defeated Republican and tea partier Ken Cuccinelli on Tuesday. McAuliffe takes the place of Gov. Bob McDonnell (R), who was barred by state law from running for re-election.

It’s the first time the party occupying the White House has won the state’s off-year gubernatorial election since 1973.

We send our congratulations to all.
