Community leaders in Detroit are gathering at the Dearborn Heights Police Headquarters on November 7 to demand answers in the shooting death of 19-year-old Renisha McBride.

McBride was fatally shot in the back of her head with a shotgun as she was seeking help at a house on Outer Drive following an auto accident early Saturday morning.

According to the Detroit Free Press, members of her family said, “they believe the African-American woman was racially profiled by the homeowner.”

Dearborn Heights police are seeking unspecified charges against the homeowner, who has yet to be identified.

Yusef Shakur, an author and local community activist, has teamed with author and Detroit native dream hampton for the rally to demand that justice be served in McBride’s death.

“We are outraged and demand to know this man’s identity; He doesn’t deserve to have his identity protected and we demand his arrest,” said hampton.

If you are in the Detroit area, the protest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at 25637 Michigan Ave in Dearborn Heights.
