This is intense.

Brooklyn rapper Maino blasted Trinidad Jame$ over his recent “The South runs NY” comment, and things quickly escalated. Maino warned Trinidad that if he ever saw the “All Gold Everything” rapper in New York City, it would be a “problem,” and well, Trinidad began to “clarify” his controversial statement.

Earlier this week, Maino called up the hip-hop newcomer and demanded an apology. During the heated discussion, Maino hammers Trinidad and questions his motives, and the “Females Welcomed” rapper promised to release a video statement.

In response to criticism (and Maino’s threats), Trinidad decided to release a public service announcement he entitled, “The Truth Shall Set You Free.”

During Trinidad’s PSA, the Don’t Be S.A.F.E. rapper said:

“Right message, wrong messenger. When I say wrong messenger, I’m not saying that because I only have one hit record, no album yet, that I don’t have the right credentials to say that. What happened was, I picked the wrong place to have a barbershop conversation. This is not an apology, and I’m not apologizing for the truth. I don’t believe in that. But this is to let the city of New York know: I wasn’t trying to disrespect you. At all. I can never do that. That’s against my code as a man. Forget being a rapper. I don’t really care. Mostly, I don’t really think I can rap anyway.”
