Jennifer Hudson and Jacob Latimore are getting ready to show the world their new movie, a musical by the name of Black Nativity.

The movie from Fox Searchlight also stars Oscar Award winner Forrest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Tyrese and Mary J Blige. Black Nativity chronicles a teenage boy in Harlem, who is sent to live with his grandparents after his single mom loses her apartment.

While back in his mother’s old stomping grounds, he goes on a long journey for truth, uncovering a few dark family secrets along the way.

Entertainment Editor Xilla caught up with the cast of Black Nativity and got the scoop on the movie. The cast revealed times where their own faith was tested and Mary J even opened up about the state of New York hip-hop.

The Queen of New York said that Jay Z and Nas are the kings, but Kendrick Lamar also earned the right to call himself one:

“You gotta give to Jay Z, and you gotta give it to Nas. You can give it to Kendrick as well, Kendrick earned his right to say whatever he’s saying right now because he’s amazing.”

Check out the interview above and be sure to share this with all your friends. Black Nativity hits theaters on November 27th.
