Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… known as Fashion Week. But this time around, the chances of you being invited are turning out to be slim to none.

The CFDA revealed plans to crack all the way down on the attendance of every and anyone who doesn’t have a lucrative reason to be in the vicinity (yep, that means no posing outside trying to get your photo taken if you don’t have any tickets to get inside).

“It was becoming a zoo,” said Catherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director at IMG Fashion Events and Properties, who oversaw the reboot. “What used to be a platform for established designers to debut their collections to select media and buyers has developed into a cluttered, often cost-prohibitive and exhausting period for our industry to effectively do business.”

Aside from tightening the scope on who is invited to view the collection, additional changes include two redesigned venues on the Lincoln Center site, two new venues and alternate, off-site show venues, accessible by a shuttle service, which will get the same marketing benefits of those at Lincoln Center. Shows at the alternate spaces will be programmed to minimize the risk of scheduling conflicts at other venues.

The redesigned venues aim to better control and reduce audience capacities, “making invitations once again an exclusive pass for true fashion insiders,” according to IMG, and that means the guest list will be snipped by about 20 percent to ensure the ones in attendance are actually of use to the designer.

Oops, there goes that separation of class sneaking in.
