As South Africa prepares to memorialize South African civil rights leader Nelson Mandela, heads of states attending Tuesday’s service make their way towards the nation to pay their last respects.

President Obama and wife Michelle Obama are expected to arrive in South Africa today. Obama is also scheduled to speak at the FNB Stadium.

About 59 heads of state confirmed their attendance at the service of the freedom fighter, who passed at age 95 last week in his Johannesburg home.

After Tuesday’s memorial service, there will be a three-day event in which Mandela’s body will lie in state at the government house in Pretoria. He is expected to be buried on Sunday in his home village of Qunu, which is in the eastern part of the country and closer to the ocean.
