Just in case you didn’t already know…Santa Claus is a white man.
Oh. And so is Jesus. It’s a “verifiable” fact, according to Fox News host Megyn Kelly. And we just have to deal with it and stop lying to kids about the race of these historical figures.
This all happened on Kelly’s show last night during a segment that addressed a Slate article arguing that Santa Claus was overdue for a makeover to represent the demographic of this country in order to be more inclusive.
But Kelly wasn’t having it.
“By the way, for all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white but this person is just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa. Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change,” she said.
Then, while putting her hand up to her mouth as if indicating that it was a secret to people of color and a well-known fact to white people, she addressed Jesus’ race, insisting that he too was a white man.
Yep, a white man born in the Middle East 2000 years ago.
“Jesus was a white man, too,” Kelly said. “He was a historical figure. That’s a verifiable fact — as is Santa. I just want the kids watching to know that. My point is, how do you just revise it in the middle of the legacy of the story and change Santa from white to black?”
And yes, this all really happened on cable television.
But more disturbing is the fact that she’s so passionate about the facts here. Like Santa Claus’ race.
You know, being that Santa is real and all…
