The shooting at a Colorado high school yesterday, on the eve of the one year anniversary of the Newtown school shooting, certainly shocked the town of Arapahoe as well as the nation, and it looks like more details are being revealed.

The identity of the shooter has been revealed by authorities, who say it was all taken into action by Karl Pierson, an 18-year-old student.

According to the LA Times, the shooter was targeting a librarian, who was also his debate coach, being that she demoted his position on the debate team.

The site reports:

When he found the teacher, he “shot once and missed” before the teacher fled, according to senior Frank Woronoff, 18, who talked with the instructor—who seemed shell-shocked afterward—outside the school as students fled for safety.

“He could barely speak. All he could say were the same statements over and over. He seemed like he might have a panic attack,” Woronoff said of the teacher, whose name has not been released by authorities.

Contrary to earlier reports, there was only one gunshot victim, a 15-year-old girl, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson told reporters. “There’s no reason to believe she was a target,” the sheriff said, adding that it was unclear whether the girl had tried to confront the shooter.

The student who was wounded in the attack is currently in critical condition in the hospital, while the rest of the school was evacuated on Friday.

We pray for the victims of the shooting and hope that peace can come back to the school.
