Mazel Tov! On Thursday, New Mexico’s Supreme Court ruled unanimously that same-sex marriage is legal, bringing the state into the group of 16 others and the District of Columbia that allow gay marriage. Read about it here…[NPR]

Here’s more good news. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Democratic lawmakers have reached an agreement on the DREAM Act, a bill that would allow students who grew up in New Jersey but are in the country illegally to pay in-state tuition at the state’s public colleges and universities. Read about it here…[NJ]

On Thursday, the Obama administration announced that it will allow individuals whose health care policies were canceled under the Affordable Care Act’s new rules to qualify for a hardship exemption. In short, this means they are not required to purchase a plan under the new law. Read about it here…[HuffPost]

And for the bad news. In Uganda, being gay will land you in jail for life. A spokeswoman for Uganda’s parliament says lawmakers have passed a long-shelved law that punishes “aggravated homosexuality” with life imprisonment. The new bill was passed on Friday and does not have the death penalty included in the draft legislation first proposed in 2010. [HuffPost]

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, according to Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), who from 2011 to 2012 chaired the House Appropriations subcommittee that oversees funding for school nutrition programs.
