A New York man and a young child have died after jumping from a building on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Police believe that 35-year-old Dmitriy Kanarikov jumped with his 3-year-old son from the 52-story building on Sunday after an alleged custody battle with his mother. By the time help arrived on the scene, the man was dead and the child died while being rushed to the hospital. [Huff Post]

Comedian Steve Martin has come under fire for a tweet he posted over the weekend. After being asked on Twitter how to pronounced “lasagna,” the actor tweeted, “‘It depends. Are you in an African-American restaurant or at an Italian restaurant?” Some fans believed that the tweet was racist, while others believed that it was just a joke. The comedian quickly apologized after he deleted the tweet. “I did apologize. But again, a second later I realized what an offensive thing I’d done. Deep bow.” [Daily Mail]

It’s not surprising that no one wants to join Dennis Rodman in North Korea with Kim Jong-un. After celebrating Kim’s birthday overseas, the basketball player is having trouble getting others to hang out with his buddy.  “You know, they’re still afraid to come here, but I’m just telling them, you know, don’t be afraid man, it’s all love, it’s all love here,” Rodman said. [Gawker]

Local hero Charles Ramsey, who saved three women from a decade of captivity in Cleveland, is writing a memoir about his life. The viral star has signed a deal with publisher David Gray and Co. to tell the story of the moment that changed his life. “What you saw on TV doesn’t even begin to tell the story,” Ramsey said.
