A college student at William Jessup University recently decided she wanted to have a great Christmas this year, but she knew she couldn’t do it by herself.

Jackie Turner was abused as a child and sexually molested, which made it difficult for her to have a good relationship with her family.

According to CBS News, that all changed this year when she posted an ad on CraigsList ad looking for a family who will spend the holiday with her for $8 an hour.

She told the news outlet:

“This time of year is hard,” Jackie said. “Everyone is talking about their cousins, their families, all the things that make up Christmas.”

“This hurting, you’re tired of it, what are you going to do? And I was like, ‘Craigslist.'”

“People are hurting and broken and we need each other,” Jackie said. “We need to be loving people. And I think that’s what tonight’s about.”

She said in the ad that she wanted to “rent a mom and dad”, which read:

“Maybe for like a couple hours — just be like the light of their life for that moment.”

“Eight bucks, just to sit, which for a college student is affordable.”

Jackie’s story is so touching that families reached out to complete her task for free, and some who had the same story as her showed her love.

Jackie decided to hold a get together to find her family, as well as match others up with ones of their own! She got much more than she and others could ever ask for.

This is truly a beautiful story and we’re so glad people are able to spend Christmas with a happy family.
