Making time for new baby?

Kerry Washington‘s husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, announced his retirement from professional football.

The athlete confirmed the news during a conference at Oakland Raiders headquarters, telling the crowd:

“After 11 seasons in the NFL, I will be retiring today. I’ve been blessed and fortunate to have a successful NFL career. Another journey is starting for me right now.”

The 32-year-old NFL cornerback was cut by the San Francisco 49ers in early November but signed a one-year deal with the team in April after being waived by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012.

He added:

“Life happens. You start getting these feelings — it’s time,” he said. “I just felt that it was the right time.”

When a reporter asked how his wife reacted to his retirement announcement, he replied:

“I’ve had a lot of support from my family. Everybody’s just been great about it.”

Nnamdi and Kerry are currently expecting their first child together so perhaps he’s making more time for daddy duties?

Either way we’re happy for these two and can’t wait for their bundle of joy to arrive.
