The year 2013 has not been kind to sneakerheads’ wallets. It seemed like every week a new pair of heat dropped.

Nike had another banner year. The LeBron James line kept growing, with releases of the LeBron 10s and 11s. What made the LeBron line so dope this year is that the general release colors, like the “Miami Night” 11s or the “Mango” 10s, were just as dope as the more limited colorways like the “Corks” and the “MVPs.” Although not as big, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant’s lines also had a number of great releases. And the Foamposite train just kept on rolling, with more than a dozen colorways hitting the streets this year.

Nike also made some magic with their Flyknit technology: releasing heat like the Racers, Trainers and Chukkas in various dope colorways.

No sneaker brand had cats going crazy like the Air Jordan line: colorways of the retro ones, threes, fours, fives, 10s, 11s, 12s all came out, causing mass hysteria.

It wasn’t just Nike and Jordan killing it, however: New Balance had a strong year, with its various collabos, with the likes of Ronnie Fieg and Concepts, while Puma and Reebok ate nicely by retroing ’90s classics. As for the high fashion kicks, no sneaker had the streets buzzing like the Balenciaga Arenas (those are $500 and better, folks.)

With all that heat, it was tough narrowing our list.

But we did: here are the 13 hottest sneakers to drop this year.
