It takes real bravery to admit when you’re wrong…

Today, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry opened her morning show with an apology for last Sunday’s segment in which the panel joked on a photo of the Romney family that included the former presidential candidates adopted grandson.

“Any captions for this one?” Harris-Perry asked her panel. To which  Pia Glenn responded, “One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn’t the same,”

But this morning, MHP tearfully showed remorse for the discussion which she says, “proceeded in a way that was offensive.”

She tells her audience:

Showing the photo in that context, that segment, was poor judgment. so without reservation or qualification, I apologize to the Romney family. Adults who enter into public life, implicitly consent to having less privacy, but their families, especially their children, should not be treated callously or thoughtlessly. My intention was not malicious, but I broke the ground rule that families are off-limits. For that I am sorry.

Well, Mitt Romney is set to appear on Fox News Sunday and it is expected that he will comment on the controversy.

Props to MHP for making things right.
