It’s official: Ciara and her rapper hubby-to-be Future are going to be parents!

Parenting is one of the most challenging jobs in the world, especially the first time around. You can read every installment of the What To Expect When You’re Expecting books, subscribe to every parenting magazine ever published and Google until your fingers fall off, but let’s face it: all the books, magazines and blogs in the world couldn’t prepare you for what’s coming your way.

You’re in for a lot of long days and way longer nights. There will be plenty of screaming and crying from both baby and you, but don’t worry. Nobody has this parenting thing all the way figured out.

To help our girl CiCi out, we’ve put together a list of the best pregnancy and parenting advice we know.

Check it out.

First and foremost, relax! Seriously. Pregnancy is going to be tough on your body. Sit back, relax & put that man of yours to work on rubbing those shoulders.

Take care of yourself…

…Eat well…

…Drink water. We know, you’re probably peeing every five seconds – get used to it…

…Avoid those cravings – at least control them. You don’t have to eat cronuts for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

…Do at least a bit of exercise here and there…

Stock up on anti-nausea medications. You’re definitely going to need them!

Sleep whenever possible…

…and get used to your constant mood swings. You’ll experience more feelings in a day than you ever thought possible…

For the love of God, stop trying to fit in your pre-pregnancy clothes. It’s only going to bring you down…

…If nothing else it gives you an excuse to go shopping!

Get familiar with all your new equipment before baby comes.

Have a baby shower. Seriously. We know you’re not strapped for cash, but it can’t hurt to save a buck or two whenever possible!

Stay cool. Yep, giving birth is definitely going to hurt, you might need that extra stitch and yes, you may even poop on the table. Don’t freak out!

Once your little bundle of joy arrives, we’re playing a whole different ball game…

Be patient. Babies cry. Like, a lot. You’ll get the hang of things in time.

Make time for yourself, even if that means locking yourself in the bathroom for five minutes and screaming internally. It’s OK, we’ve all been there.

Keep the romance alive between you and your man. Hire a sitter and go do something, just the two of you.

Brace yourself for teething. It’s going to be horrible and there’s no way around it. It’ll be over soon.

Do all those cheesy things people do with their kids – swim class, mommy – baby workouts, whatever. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Take pictures! Lots and lots of pictures. Those bathtub pics will come in handy when your little one gets their first girlfriend or boyfriend.

Don’t let anyone hate on your parenting style – do what works best for you.

Don’t waste your cash on expensive baby toys. They’ll only want to play with the box anyway.

Be confident in your abilities…

…and have fun! Parenting is awesome and it flies by. Enjoy each little moment.
