Get your Kleenex ready.
We’re finally getting a look at what it took for an entire American city to transform into Gotham for a cancer survivor whose wish was to become Batman and save the day.
The Make A Wish Foundation released the nine-minute documentary Miles’ Wish to be Batkid on Wednesday, showing footage of Miles, aka Batkid, capturing The Riddler, eating lunch with big Batman, and getting a key to the city of San Francisco for his great work.
“When I originally heard about this event, I thought it was going to be kind of small,” said the man who played “Batman” at the event. “A few weeks later, I knew it was going to be big, but I had no idea.”
“I thought we were going to have about 200 volunteers to help it make him feel like a real super hero and make it exciting,” said a representative for Make-A-Wish in the video.
In one of the most touching moments of the documentary, Miles, who has battled with leukemia since he was 18-months-old, tells Batman that he’s tired and done for the day. But when he sees The Penguin up to no good, the 5-year-old revved up and kept on pushing — a symbol of his perseverance in the face of cancer.
Watch the video above and try not to cry. We promise, it’s the best thing you’ll see all day.
