After months of searching for missing 14-year-old Avonte Oquendo, the teens body was found and our heart were broken last week Thursday.

Yesterday, Avonte’s family held a funeral for him and needless to say, it was a very somber and emotional day for his relatives and New Yorkers everywhere, who have been hoping for Avonte’s safe return .

With hundreds of New Yorkers standing in line to say their goodbyes, the funeral was held at the Church of Saint Joesph in Greenwich Village and was led by the former Roman Catholic Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Edward Egan.

Egan told the church:

“Avonte was a great human being. We are grateful for Avonte. We are grateful for his life, for his courage and for the acts of goodness and kindness that his life and tragic death evoked.”

Avonte Oquendo – who was autistic – went missing from his Queens school in October.

We know this has been a difficult time for the family but we would like to let them know we will keep them in our prayers. More photos of the funeral are below.
