    Just days after Jonathan Ferrell’s family learned that a grand jury chose not to indict Officer Randall Kerrick in the killing of their son, some big changes might put him behind bars after all.

    On Monday, a grand jury indicted the Charlotte police officer for shooting and killing the former FAMU football player in September 2013. The indictment was handed up Monday, hours after a judge ruled the North Carolina Attorney General’s office could resubmit the case to a grand jury.

    Attorney General Roy Cooper decided to send the case to another grand jury because the first grand jury was missing four members.

    Kerrick’s lawyers filed a motion to stop prosecutors, but Judge Robert Bell refused.

    The voluntary manslaughter charge carries a prison sentence of up to 11 years. We’ll keep you updated with the latest in this case.
