Hunger Games actor and Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead on Sunday. His death may be due to a heroin overdose in his Manhattan apartment, according to a police source.
NYDailyNews reports:
Police said they were investigating a death at the actor’s home on Bethune St. They were alerted to the death around 11:15 a.m.
A source said Hoffman was found alone with a needle in his arm in the bathroom of his apartment. Sources said the actor used heroin.
Hoffman was the recipient of an Academy Award for Best Actor for his extraordinary portrayal of Truman Capote in Capote. He was also nominated for an Oscar for The Master, Doubt and Charlie Wilson’s War.
Most recently, we remember Mr. Hoffman for his role in the Hunger Games series and he is scheduled to be in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, which is currently filming.
He was a regular on the New York stage and was a founding member of the Labyrinth Theater Company.
He was 46 years old at the time of his passing. He is survived by longtime partner, Mimi O’Donnell, and their three children, daughters Tallulah and Willa and son Cooper.
